THERE WAS A MOVIE I SEEN IN THE 1990S -ON LIFETIME? - cystic fibrosis alexandra movie

There was a girl who lay dying from cystic fibrosis, I think the girls name was Alexandra Defoe, someone has to know the name of this film, the father ran to the grocery store to buy his rootbeer soda; her one last request before they went to bed at Home, then at the end of the film when she dies, he becomes a circlre in his front yard, as the rest of the soda around the tears of a real exports terror, a true story, too?
